The 2012 Mom in Chapel Hill Fitness Challenge!!!

These running shoes are ready to roll!
I love checking out restaurants and food trucks!  I love going to movies.  And if you've read my post on the UNC Wellness Center in Meadowmont, you know it is high time for me to get back in shape.  I mean really, when does "baby weight" just become extra weight I've not gotten rid of yet.  As I think about what I want to teach my son, I know that one of those things should be a love for physical activity.  I want to be healthy for him, and to teach him healthy habits. On the more vain side, I would love to get back in my pre-baby clothes!   Does that mean I'm not eating in restaurants or from food trucks?  No way! It means it's time for me to strap on my running shoes and move!  Not just occasionally, but regularly.

Here's how I'm doing it:  I'm joining Allison and Sarah in the 2012 Mom in Chapel Hill Fitness Challenge.  We're three Moms with small children, busy lives and hectic schedules--just like most of you.  And we're training for the Abundance Foundation's Earth Day 5K in Briar Chapel (April 21). We aren't saying we will be perfect, and we aren't saying we will finish this race in stellar time, (okay, maybe they will), but our journey should get us fit!  You can follow our progress (trials, tribulations, confessions) on Notes from a Mom in Chapel Hill. Would you rather jump in on the conversation?  If so tweet with us using this hashtag:  #MiCHillFit2012.     Here's my challenge to you:  Join us.  Get Fit in 2012!  Walk, jog or run the Briar Chapel 5K with us.  or just make a commitment to moving more than you did before.  Cheer us on.   Let us cheer you on!  Tell us about your fitness routine.  Let's Get Moving!

  1. It's going to be great! and I will tell myself that through every single run! :) --I've pulled out my pre-baby "skinny" jeans as motivation!

  2. We can do this! And the best part, we'll be in good shape in time for swimsuit season. ;)
